"even so, come!" - a poem

From beginning to end,

You did superintend

Your creation and children

to walk in Your will.

Through one man's sin,

You sent Your Son

to cleanse our sins within

and make us one.

Jesus' death and resurrection

removed our imperfection,

and as a new creation,

we await glorification.

Come soon, Lord Jesus,

the Alpha and Omega,

the first and the last,

the beginning and the end.

Through our yearning

there is rejoicing,

for You will be returning,

Your promises fulfilling.

Bring us to the clouds

When Your trumpet sounds.

Bring us to Your home

To sit on Your throne.

Where death shall pass away,

Where tears shall be wiped dry,

Where night shall be no more,

And every knee bowed down.

Keep us hoping,

For Your coming.

Keep us watchful,

Without wavering.

Come, Lord Jesus,

Come unto us.

With one voice we say:

"Even so, come, Lord Jesus."

Recently, I've been pondering a lot about Christ's second coming. As turmoil and anguish beat our world from the very start of 2022, I cannot help but recall the prophecies in the Bible that foretell the signs of Jesus' return. I can say with full confidence that I have peace in Christ because He WILL return no matter what happens in this chaotic life of ours. It is through the trials we go through that cause us to look forward to His coming, to look forward to the perfect rule, and to look forward to the days where death and suffering shall be no more. I stumbled on the verse in Revelations 22:20 (ESV): "He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!" and drew great inspiration from this passage. The imagery portrayed in Revelations when we will see our Lord far surpasses human imagination, and no words can fully encompass our feelings the day we meet Jesus face-to-face. But words can beautifully encapsulate the emotions whirling in our hearts when we hope and await the day where all things will be made perfect. May we never ever lose sight of the hope of things to come and may we always remember to yearn and rejoice for Jesus' return.

"When we all get to Heaven,

What a day of rejoicing that will be!

When we all see Jesus,

We'll sing and shout the victory!"
